Job summary

Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and maintain automated build, release, and testing infrastructure for a high-demand, cloud-based platform. You will code internal tooling, collaborate across engineering, QA and Ops, and drive improvements in CI/CD with AWS and Kubernetes.

The role emphasizes test-driven development, rapid releases, and scalable infrastructure. We value versatile engineers who own their contributions and push for better performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Python, Go, Java and JavaScript.
• Understand development of microservices and multi-service ecosystems.
• Able to coordinate cross-functional work to complete tasks.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies is a plus.
• Experience with AWS or Kubernetes is desirable.
• Familiarity with virtualization, Docker, AWS and Linux; Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent.

We are looking for a Senior Software engineer who is passionate about writing the tools to integrate and support to build large-scale, high-demand software in a fast-paced agile environment. You will share our passion for test-driven development, continuous integration and automation to produce frequent high-quality releases.

Our engineering team is fast, innovative and flexible; with a weekly release cycle and individual ownership. You will get an opportunity to work in scaling our infrastructure to the next generation. Our scale is already huge in running tens of thousands of tests for every commit automatically. This comes with challenges in speed by reducing compute time from days to a few minutes.

Responsibilities

• You will be part of the team that builds, maintains, and improves our highly-automated build, release and testing infrastructure.
• Scripting, tools-building, and automation are paramount to Okta Engineering; everybody automates. You will be creating and coding tools for internal use to support continuous delivery.
• Team up with Development, QA and Ops to continuously innovate and enhance our build and automation infrastructure
• Collaborate with peers and stake-holders to create new tools/process/technology. We use the latest technology from AWS and you can experiment, recommend, and implement new technologies in our build and CI system.
• Work with internal customers to roll-out projects and process, monitor adoption, collect feedback, and fine-tune the project to respond to internal customers’ needs.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with one or more programming languages including Python, Go, Java, Javascript
• Good understanding of application development, micro services architecture and successful elements of a multi-service ecosystem
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional work towards task completion.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies is a plus.
• Past experience working on AWS or K8S
• Good understanding of virtualization, dynamic provisioning, Docker, AWS and Linux
• Experience in Kubernetes is a plus
• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent.

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between: $136,000 — $187,000 CAD.
