About The Role

Our engineering teams build the software that powers clinical care delivery at Oak Street Health — patient scheduling, care coordination, clinical records, and the integrations that connect our systems to health networks across the country. As a Sr Software Engineer, you’ll own complex workstreams, drive technical decisions within your domain, and mentor the engineers around you. The work needs to be reliable, maintainable, and built to evolve — and in a healthcare environment, the quality of the design has direct clinical consequences.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement scalable microservices and APIs optimized for reliability and low latency
• Own a domain or service area end-to-end, including its data model and integration contracts
• Apply domain-driven design principles to define and enforce service boundaries
• Build and evolve event-driven integrations using Kafka across service teams
• Lead code reviews, set technical standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• Partner with product and clinical stakeholders to refine requirements for high-impact initiatives
• Hold the team accountable for test coverage, observability, and the production health of the services you own

• Exposure to LLM/AI integration or document processing pipelines
• Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7) or EMR integrations
• Background in high‑throughput, low‑latency service design at scale
• Experience with event sourcing, CQRS, or other advanced event‑driven patterns

Pay Range

The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $101,970.00 – $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
