Job summary

NetApp’s Azure NetApp Files (ANF) team builds cloud-scale storage services and distributed systems spanning storage, networking, and cloud infrastructure. We seek a highly motivated software engineer to own features end-to-end, contribute to automated validation, and drive reliability in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The role focuses on developing scalable backend services in Go, with Python for test automation, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience.
• Strong Go production software development experience for backend services.
• Experience with Python for test automation, validation frameworks, tooling, CI/CD or operational automation.
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, or C# for working across service components and UI workflows.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and service-to-service integrations.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating microservices with Kubernetes and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with software quality practices including automated testing, performance optimization, and security best practices.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, telemetry, and operational excellence.
• Experience building and operating cloud-native distributed systems in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Domain knowledge in cloud storage, distributed systems, databases or infrastructure services.

Job Summary

NetApp’s Azure NetApp Files (ANF) team is building industry-leading cloud storage services that power mission-“kritical enterprise workloads in Microsoft Azure. We are looking for a highly motivated software engineer to help develop and operate cloud-“scale distributed systems that span storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, and user experience. This is a unified engineering role where engineers are expected to contribute across development, automated validation, operational readiness, and service reliability. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges, takes ownership from design through production, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own features through the entire software lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Design, develop, and operate cloud-native services leveraging containers, microservices, distributed systems principles, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Drive engineering excellence through automated testing, code reviews, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions spanning storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and customer-facing experiences.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to help drive technical excellence and engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term reliability, scalability, and operational improvements.
• Work closely with product management, architects, and partner teams to translate customer and business requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts, design tradeoffs, and project status to stakeholders across the organization.
• Contribute to the technical growth of the team through knowledge sharing, code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship opportunities.

Job Requirements

• 10+ years of experience.
• Strong production software development experience in Go, including development of scalable, secure, production-quality backend services.
• Experience with Python for test automation, validation frameworks, tooling, CI/CD integration, or operational automation.
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, or C# is desirable for engineers to work across existing service components and user-facing workflows.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and service-to-service integrations.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating microservices-based applications using Kubernetes, containers, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience with software quality practices including automated testing, performance optimization, and security best practices.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, telemetry, and operational excellence practices.
• Experience building and operating cloud-native distributed systems in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience in one or more of the following domains: cloud storage services, distributed systems, file systems, databases, data protection, or infrastructure services.
• Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Creative and analytical approach to problem solving.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.

Compensation: The target salary range for this position is 196,350 - 292,600 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off, various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
