Job summary

Wintermeyer Ventures is seeking a seasoned backend engineer to join a small product and engineering team building AI-powered software for complex contract workflows. You will own features from design through production, delivering reliable systems.

You will develop and deploy Python-based AI agents, design agent workflows that orchestrate language models, APIs, databases, and external tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into shipped features.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building and shipping production backend systems.
• Strong Python experience, plus TypeScript and React.
• Experience designing production agent systems with orchestration and tool calling.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure) and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on software engineering delivering production systems in startups.
• Strong fundamentals and ability to work across the product lifecycle.

About the Role

What You'll Do

• Architect and build core product features with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
• Develop and deploy Python-based AI agents that automate complex workflows.

• Translate product requirements and customer feedback into technical designs and shipped features.
• Own features through deployment and ongoing operation, and contribute to engineering practices and tooling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve technical blockers.

What We're Looking For

• At least 6 years of experience building and shipping production backend systems.
• Strong production experience with Python, plus TypeScript and React.
• Experience designing production agent systems, including orchestration, tool calling, evaluation, and failure handling.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Azure, including DevOps.
• A track record of hands-on software engineering and delivering production systems in a high-ownership product or startup environment.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and an ability to work across the product lifecycle.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $180,000 to $280,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
