Job summary

FORT is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the backend systems and platform capabilities powering its identity security platform.

You will own distributed systems, improve scalability and reliability, and collaborate with enterprise customers, product teams, and leadership to drive architectural decisions in a cloud-native environment.

Qualifications

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll design, build, and scale the backend systems and platform capabilities that power the company's security platform.

This role sits within the Platform Engineering team and is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems through software. You’ll build distributed systems, improve scalability and reliability, and create internal platforms that enable engineering teams to move faster.

You’ll have high autonomy, influence technical decisions, and work closely with engineering leadership, product teams, and enterprise customers.

• Design and build scalable distributed systems supporting enterprise workloads.
• Develop backend services and core platform components.
• Improve platform reliability, security, and performance.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer building distributed systems.
• Strong programming fundamentals and ability to succeed through rigorous coding interviews.
• Experience building backend services, infrastructure platforms, or developer tooling.
• Experience designing systems that operate at enterprise scale or within multi-tenant SaaS environments.
• Strong experience with Golang or another systems programming language.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Understanding of technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and reliability principles.
