PDW in Huntsville, AL seeks an experienced software engineer to contribute to system and tool development for upcoming product lines. You will design robust Qt/C++ architectures, build cross-platform applications, and optimize performance across deployment environments.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product teams, independent ownership of tasks, and hands-on deployment support for field testing, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions for sUAS functional systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the end-to-end lifecycle of software development from concept to deployment, delivering production-ready code.

Now,we’reentering a new phase of growth and are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our team, contributing to the next wave of system and tool development for our upcoming product lines. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building the systems that integrate with our deployment environments, crafting specialized tools for engineering research, and supporting new technologies that aid towards the advancement of sUAS functional systems.

• Uphold and raise the bar for high code quality and performance, conducting code reviews and optimizations to improve system efficiency and scalability.
• Be vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities.

Requirements

• Ability to design and architect robust software systems using Qt and C++.
• Extensive experience in developing applications using the Qt framework.
• Experience in developing and deploying cross-platform applications using Qt.
• Strong skills in designing and implementing user interfaces with QML.
• Understanding of the workflows associated with deploying Qt applications, such as build dependencies, environments, and targets.
• Experience using build tools such as cmake, qmake, and compiler configuration.
• Strong understanding of multi-platform application development.
• Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON.
• Experience with using third-party libraries and APIs.
• Ability to create clean code whilst following a set of defined coding standards.
• Proficiency with Git; including tags and issue management.
• Experience with a bug/issue tracking tool, such as Jira.
• 5-7YearsProfessional Development Experience; with bachelor’s degree in ComputerScience, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Preferred

• Experience developing on Embedded Linux platforms is a plus.
• Experience developing on Android platforms is a plus.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about regularly throughout the day and lift / carry up to 25 pounds. Must have manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment as well as various electronic power supplies and test equipment. Must be physically capable of the assigned duties.

Work Environment

This position typically operates in a standard office setting and manufacturing environment. This role requires use of standard office and manufacturing equipment and may require occasional travel to customer locations or facilities. This position may have exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and non-climate-controlled environments. May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on the environment. This is a fast-paced work environment and requires cross-differential collaboration with independent and team-based responsibilities. Standard work hours for this position are 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional overtime as operational needs demand.
