Fidelity Investments in Durham, NC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Shared Services Engineering organization. You will help build the Event Distribution Platform and modernize the FENS system into a cloud-native, event-driven platform serving millions of clients.

You will work with a team of engineers, architects, and product owners to deliver real-time, compliant messaging at scale using AWS, Kafka, RESTful APIs, and microservices.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, event streaming patterns, and scalable messaging platforms.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience designing cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Experience testing, CI/CD, and fast-paced development.

In this role, you will contribute to the development of the Event Distribution Platform and help modernize the Fidelity Electronic Notification System (FENS) from a legacy mainframe-based solution into a scalable, cloud-native, event-driven BNS platform. These platforms will enable real-time, compliant, and personalized communications for millions of Retail and Institutional Brokerage clients. As part of a collaborative and highly skilled engineering team, you will work alongside software engineers, architects, product owners, and business partners to build modern event-driven solutions that support Fidelity's strategic messaging and communication capabilities. Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
