Job summary

Braviant Holdings is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the modernization of our online lending platform Balance Credit. You will lead engineers through the full Agile SDLC, collaborating with Product Management to translate requirements into scalable solutions using Java, Spring, and AWS.

The role emphasizes ownership, architectural collaboration with the VP of Technology, and delivering high-quality, scalable services in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Programming, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of hands-on programming experience using Java.
• 3+ years of experience leading teams of engineers in an Agile software environment.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Solid understanding of REST, microservices, MVC and architectural layers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a squad of engineers through Braviant's Agile SDLC from estimation sessions to production deployment and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with Product Management to analyze requirements and design implementable solutions for the engineering squad.
• Create technical requirements, software design specifications and architectural artifacts.
• Modernize testing with AI-driven spec development of testing functionality on CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure code adheres to designs through reviews while continuing to contribute code.
• Analyze squad performance and drive improvements based on retrospectives.

Location: Addison, TX (5 days/week in-office)

Please note: This position requires candidates to be based in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metro area, within commuting distance of our Addison, TX office, and to work on-site five days per week. Our Senior Software Engineer will be instrumental to Braviant's success by individually contributing to the modernization of the code while leading the team that designs and implements Braviant's flexible, highly scalable online lending platform. A successful candidate will be proficient in Java, microservices, postgres db and AWS. The candidate would be leading the engineers through Braviant's SDLC from requirement analysis through production deployment all while contributing to our next-generation lending web application Balance Credit. They will also expand upon our AWS / Java / Spring based lending platform to grow the business through several new business avenues and ventures. This Senior/Principal Software Engineering Developer will be working collaboratively with other managers on designs and implementations to grow our business while reporting directly to the VP of Technology.

• You'll be leading a squad of engineers through Braviant's Agile SDLC including estimation sessions, sprint planning, daily standups all the way through production deployment, production support, and retrospectives.
• You'll be working directly with Product Management to analyze requirements, understand business cases, and design out implementable solutions for the engineering squad.
• Create technical requirements, software design specifications and other forms of architectural artifacts
• You will be leading the design hand in hand with the VP to modernize the testing of the automation scripts to AI driven spec development of testing functionality that runs on the CI/CD pipelines.
• You'll be instrumental in assuring code adheres to the designs through design and code reviews all while keeping your coding skills up to date while writing code yourself.
• You'll also be responsible for the overall performance and improvement of the squad by analyzing squad performance through retrospectives and following up on actionable areas of improvement.
• Work both independently and in collaboration with other architects and engineers.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Programming, or a related field for entry into the position preferred
• 5- 10 years of hands-on programming experience using Java
• 3+ years of experience leading teams of engineers in an Agile software environment
• Ability to demonstrate strong experience with the following technologies and frameworks: Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Postgres, AWS
• Solid understanding of contemporary API and architectural concepts (REST, Microservices, MVC, Architectural Layers, etc.)

What makes you stand out

• Strong experience with cloud hosted applications on Amazon AWS, Github actions, CI/CD experience, Monitoring tools such as Datadog, Sentry
• Experience working in an Agile or Lean Software Development such as Kanban, Scrum and Test-Driven Development
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and experience working with automation to help the team implement testing strategies on the CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Git (Github / BitBucket), Jira and Confluence
• Full stack development experience
• An internal drive to consistently stay up to date on current and next versions of technologies, thinking about how next versions can enhance the functionality of products
