Job summary

Wellington Management is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in the Portfolio Implementation Technology team. You will design, build, and support full-stack systems implementing investment decisions, partnering with business and technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

The role requires strong software development experience, proficiency with modern tooling (JIRA, Git, CI/CD, IDEs, cloud platforms), and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing durable software solutions.
  • Proficient with SDLC tools: JIRA/Linear, Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, VS Code/IntelliJ/Eclipse.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A mindset to steward a business-critical platform and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement software components across the full stack (web, mobile, desktop, platform services).
  • Influence architecture and drive technical decisions balancing delivery with platform health.
  • Translate business needs into requirements, specs and test plans with stakeholders.
  • Support the full delivery lifecycle from design through production support.

About the Role

TITLE: Senior Software Engineer

TEAM: Portfolio Implementation Technology

LOCATION: Needham or Boston

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Portfolio Implementation Technology team, you'll design, build, and support the systems that implement investment decisions. You will work collaboratively with a strong team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and implement software components and applications across the full stack - web, mobile, desktop, and platform-level services
  • Influence architecture and drive technical decisions across the team, balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform health
  • Partner with business teams, project managers, and systems analysts to turn business needs into clear requirements, specifications, and test plans
  • Support the full delivery lifecycle: design, prototyping, implementation, testing, and production support
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing durable and impactful software solutions with exposure to AI-driven agentic engineering practices
  • Comfortable with SDLC tools such as issue tracking (JIRA / Linear), source code management (Git), CI/CD (Jenkins / GitHub Actions), IDEs (VS Code / IntelliJ / Eclipse), AI tools (Claude Code / GitHub Copilot), Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure), Languages (Java / Python / TypeScript), and databases (Oracle / MySQL)
  • Excellent communication and commitment to working independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • A mindset to be a dependable steward of a business-critical platform, while embracing continuous improvement

Compensation and Benefits

At Wellington Management, our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent in our industry. Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is: USD 90,000 - 180,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington's total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
