Job summary

Virtusa in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Senior Java Engineer to lead the development of robust, scalable applications. You will bring hands-on expertise in core Java, JVM tuning, and modern microservices with Spring Boot, working across teams and with clients.

You will design distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and messaging patterns (Kafka/RabbitMQ), drive code reviews, API documentation standards, and ensure strong CI/CD practices while mentoring junior developers in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience, including at least 1 year in a related domain.
• Expert-level proficiency in Core Java (JSE), including in-depth JVM tuning.
• 3+ years of Spring Framework / Spring Boot and designing scalable microservices architectures.
• Proven track record in system design and integration with RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience leading code reviews and defining API documentation practices (Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Excellent problem-solving and architectural skills to manage technical debt and provide strategic solutions.
• Strong leadership and communication skills bridging technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead code reviews and promote best practices for API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI) and CI/CD standards.
• Design and implement scalable microservices architectures using Spring Boot and Java.
• Contribute to system design and integration, focusing on RESTful APIs and distributed systems with Kafka/RabbitMQ.
