Blue Origin seeks a highly skilled software engineer to build and maintain a high-fidelity hardware emulation framework for spaceflight systems. You will design drivers for emulation hardware, integrate vehicle simulations with the emulation platform, and execute rigorous test plans to validate performance against flight hardware.

The role requires strong C/C++ and Python skills, RTOS knowledge, and experience with test automation, CI/CD, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in software development for embedded systems, simulation, or hardware emulation/testing.
• Proficient in C / C++ development
• Skilled in Python or a similar scripting language for test automation and data analysis.
• Real-time operating systems and embedded control systems knowledge, including APIs, interfaces, and device drivers
• Solid understanding of computer architecture concepts (CPU, memory, buses, interrupts)
• Familiarity with Ethernet, Spacewire, CAN, I2C, SPI, or UART
• Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork and inclusion
• U.S. citizen or eligible

Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

In this role, you will be the bridge between our complex vehicle simulations and our flight hardware. You will be responsible for creating an emulated hardware environment that is indistinguishable from the flight hardware performance. This involves developing low-level device drivers and models, integrating simulation environments with emulation equipment, and performing rigorous testing to validate that the emulation is precise. Your work will directly enable robust, early-stage testing and verification of our TeraWave products and accelerate our development timelines and ensuring mission success.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in software development for embedded systems, simulation, or hardware emulation/testing.
• Proficient in C / C++ development
• Skilled in Python or a similar scripting language for test automation and data analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of real-time operating systems and embedded control systems, including APIs, interfaces, and device drivers
• Solid understanding of computer architecture concepts (e.g., CPU, memory, buses, interrupts).
• Familiarity with digital communication protocols such as Ethernet, Spacewire, CAN, I2C, SPI, or UART.
• Exceptionally organized great teammate with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of relevant experience developing software simulation testbeds for innovative and large-scale engineering systems
• Experience developing software for a Hardware-in-the-Loop vehicle simulator
• Proficient with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, GitLab, or GitHub
• Familiar with hardware emulation tools like Simics
• Understanding of electrical and electronic engineering concepts
• Solid grasp of IP networking
• Competent in MATLAB and Simulink
• Acquainted with GNC systems and 6DOF dynamics
• Proficient with Jama SVN, Jenkins

Base Pay Range for:

CA applicants is $197,529.00 - $276,539.55CO applicants is $181,626.00 - $254,275.35WA applicants is $197,529.00 - $276,539.55
