Job summary

NationsBenefits is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer (Platform) to join our FinTech Engineering team in Plantation, FL. You will design, develop, and deploy Java-based microservices and cloud-based applications, leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.

Ideal candidates have 3–6 years of Java development, Spring Boot, and experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), containers, and CI/CD. FinTech/payments domain experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3–6 years of Java development experience, including Java 21.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Framework, Hibernate, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and hands-on cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable Java-based microservices using Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST APIs.
• Provide technical leadership across architecture, code quality, debugging, performance optimization, and SDLC best practices.
• Build secure, fault-tolerant, low-latency applications for high transaction volumes.

Senior Software Development Engineer (Platform) – FinTech

NationsBenefits is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (Platform) to join our FinTech Engineering team in Plantation, FL.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud platforms, and scalable payment systems who can also provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable Java-based microservices using Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST APIs.
• Provide technical leadership across architecture, code quality, debugging, performance optimization, and SDLC best practices.
• Build secure, fault-tolerant, low-latency applications capable of supporting high transaction volumes.
• Architect and maintain cloud-based applications across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Product, Program, and Business teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Design and optimize SQL/NoSQL databases and high-volume data-processing solutions.
• Promote Agile, DevOps, automation, security, and continuous improvement practices.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to team development, knowledge sharing, and technical standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3–6 years of Java development experience, including Java 21.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Framework, Hibernate, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of Agile development, secure application design, and regulated environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience:

• FinTech or payments platform experience.
• Payment tokenization and Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES).
• Digital wallet integrations and payment token lifecycle management.
• Secure credential provisioning, key/certificate lifecycle management, and token management.
• PCI DSS and EMVCo standards.
• Kafka, Hadoop, or other distributed/high-throughput data-processing technologies.
• React or Angular exposure.

Payments Domain Experience – Required

• Strong experience with Payment Processing, Payment Platforms, Payment Systems, and Transaction Processing
• Experience with Card Issuing and/or Card Acquiring
• Strong understanding of PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard)
• Experience with ISO 8583 messaging standards
• Knowledge of card transaction flows, authorization, clearing, settlement, and payment lifecycle
• Experience building secure, high-volume, low-latency payment applications
• Experience with payment tokenization, digital wallets, and secure credential provisioning is highly preferred
• Experience with Mastercard MDES, EMVCo standards, and token lifecycle management is a strong plus
