Job summary

Workday, Inc. is seeking a technically fluent program leader to support federal government contracts in the Tenant Lifecycle Engineering (TLE) Public Cloud team. You will automate tenant management, build scalable tooling, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure reliability.

The role requires strong cloud, automation, and programming skills, with on-site work possible in the DC/MD/VA area and a pathway to security clearance.

About the Team

\

Once a Workday application is built by our developers it is handed over to the Tenant Lifecycle Engineering (TLE) team. This is the team that supports the operations of our applications and services. They run all environments from production, sandbox, sales and implementation. This team pushes new code to our existing customers, handles the health, performance and reliability of the Workday stack, and in general, "keep the lights on" with 24/7 coverage.

About the Role

\

This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government which, due to federal government security requirements, mandates that all Workday personnel working on the contracts be United States citizens (naturalized or native). You will be a key contributor on the TLE Public Cloud Team. You will help the team in building a user friendly, scalable, and reliable tool framework. You will work closely with others from TLE to help automate tenant management and other operational tasks while being part of on-call and patch rotations.

About You

\

This role may require a security clearance at the TS/SCI w/CI Poly level. Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance. An active TS/SCI w/CI Poly is preferred. You are a highly organized, technically fluent program leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments, managing ambiguity, aligning stakeholders, and driving execution. You balance technical understanding with program management expertise to anticipate risks and maintain momentum. You break down complex problems into actionable plans and possess a proactive, ownership-driven, and results-focused mindset. May be required to be on site at client locations in the DC, MD, and VA (DMV) area. You have excellent analytical skills for solving and problem determination. You love solving the complexities of running a deployment. You dislike doing things twice, so you automate each step along the way. You strive to make things self-healing, elastic, automatic, repeatable, and well tested. Have a high degree of comfort in Object Oriented, and Functional Programming. You are passionate about automation and motivated by writing fast, scalable code with test-ability in mind and exhilarated by working in a fast-paced environment!

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years using, deploying, and applying: AWS, Google Cloud Platform

• 5+ years working with one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby

• 5+ years with SQL and MySQL

• Experience in crafting, analyzing, and fixing large-scale distributed systems

• Experience implementing, crafting, deploying: Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless (Lambda’s)

• Experience with orchestration, deployment tools e.g CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef
\
• Experience with CI tools e.g Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo, Artifactory
\
• Strong background in Linux and Shell Scripting

• MS in Computer Science or related field and 3 years validated experience or BS in Computer

Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
