United Airlines' Digital Technology team is hiring a Senior Software Developer to design, develop, and maintain cloud-based applications. You will collaborate with a team to deliver scalable solutions using Agile methods.

Expect hands-on API development, evaluation of new technologies, and leadership in software design meetings. Proficiency in Node.js, Java, and Python, plus cloud experience, is required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MIS or related field.
• 4+ years in design, development, testing, and debugging of software systems in Agile environments.
• 4+ years’ experience with AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch, CloudFront, Cognito, Route 53, DynamoDB, ECS, EC2, S3, RDS, API Gateway).
• Experience with Cloud Automation tools and scripting (Git, Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Backend API development with Node.js, Java and Python.
• Strong knowledge of .NET, SQL/NoSQL, APIs, JSON/XML, OAuth; cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with Agile/Scrum/SAFe, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps; strong communication and documentation skills.

• Serve as technical expert on development projects and write technical specifications.
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality; evaluate new technologies.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for the development of critical applications, while working with a team of developers. This role will design, develop, document, test and debug new and existing applications. Additionally, this role will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use groundbreaking technologies and enterprise grade integration software daily and will be relied upon to help take the team to the next level from a technological standpoint.

• Manages and participates in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design using Agile methodologies
• Serve as technical expert on development projects
• Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality
• Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
• Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
• Managers and participates in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
• Collaborate & lead tech teams consisting of employees & vendor company contractors in planning and execution, serving as an technology leader

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field
• 4+ years of experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging of new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use in an agile environment
• 4+ years’ experience implementing AWS technologies (Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch, CloudFront, Cognito, route53, Dynamo DB, ECS, EC2, S3, RDS, API Gateway). Active MQ, RDS - Aurora Postgres, , Route 53, Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, Cloudwatch, EFS
• Experience with Cloud Automation Development Tool such as Git, Python/Bash/PowerShell Scripting
• Hands-on development and proficient excellence in backend API development using Node.js Java and Python (nice to have)
• 4+ years’ experience in Java 25, Springboot 2.7 & 3, Node JS 9.5 & Angular 15, Python ; Code Repo: Github Cloud ; CI/CD (DevOps): Harness (1st Gen, Next Gen); Image Repo: Artifactory (Cloud) ; Container Orchestration: Kubernetes
• Strong knowledg of Microsoft .Net Framework, Microsoft .Net Core, SLQ, NoSQL and Design Pattersn
• Knowledge of APIs, JSON, XML, and OAuth
• AI : Claude, Agentic AI or CoPilot in SDLC
• Excellent knowledge of Object-Oriented systems design and Application Development
• Web development, API integrations, Cloud technologies
• Experience in AI domains.
• Solid technical understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), APIs, CI/CD, web technologies, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum or SAFe frameworks and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation abilities.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

The base pay range for this role is $112,480.00 to $146,540.00.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
