Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a senior software engineer to architect, develop, and maintain scalable front-end and back-end systems. You will drive responsive interfaces, build robust server-side logic, APIs, and data layers, while ensuring cross-platform compatibility and mobile optimization.

Collaborating with UX/UI teams, you will translate business requirements into well-engineered solutions, mentor engineers, and help shape technical strategy and future tool adoption.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years experience.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern front-end practices.
• Expertise in Python, Java, Ruby, PHP or .NET and experience with RESTful APIs.
• Experience with multi-threaded, asynchronous apps, sockets and event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of JSON, XML and related schemas; SQL and NoSQL databases.

Primary Responsibilities:

Qualification You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end practices
• Expertise in one or more server-side languages: Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, .NET
• Experience building multi-threaded and asynchronous applications
• Experience with socket programming and event‑driven architecture
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MonetDB)
• Strong understanding of JSON, XML, and XSD structures and schemas

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience designing microservices and distributed systems with RESTful APIs
• Agile/Scrum development experience
• Knowledge of WMI and WCF frameworks
• Familiarity with SOA and enterprise integration patterns
• Experience developing in both Linux and Windows environments
• Understanding of MVC patterns and modern application architectures
• Experience refactoring or modernizing legacy applications for cloud platforms
• Proficiency with IDEs such as Eclipse, WebStorm, and Visual Studio
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and real‑time diagnostics in cloud environments
• Hands‑on experience with IaaS/PaaS platforms (VMware, OpenShift, OpenStack)

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
