Job summary

ClearBridge Investments is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join its New York-based Application Development team. The role emphasizes Java enterprise applications, SOA/ESB architectures, system integration, messaging, and DevOps, with hands-on leadership across the SDLC.

You will collaborate with software engineers, QA, infra, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable technology solutions supporting critical business functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale applications.
  • 5+ years of application architecture and technical leadership for large platforms.
  • Strong Java and enterprise frameworks with API-centric development.
  • Experience migrating applications to WebLogic/JBoss/WildFly or cloud platforms.
  • Expertise in event-driven architectures, IBM MQ/JMS, and Java-based integrations.
  • RESTful/SOAP services, React/JS front-ends, and modern cloud-native architectures.
  • Advanced SQL development across Oracle/SQL Server/Snowflake with ORM.
  • Strong CI/CD, deployment automation, and DevOps toolchains.
  • Security experience with SSO, AD, OAuth/SAML/OIDC, RBAC.
  • BI/Reporting experience (Power BI, SSRS) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
  • Financial services domain experience preferred.

Position Summary ClearBridge Investments is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join its Application Development team based in New York. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in Java‑based enterprise application development, SOA/ESB architectures, system integration, messaging technologies, database design, and DevOps methodologies. This position offers the opportunity to provide hands‑on technical leadership throughout the entire software development lifecycle, including solution architecture, application development, integration, testing, deployment, performance tuning, production support, and application modernization. The role requires close collaboration with software engineers, QA team, infrastructure team, business stakeholders, and third‑party vendors to design and deliver secure, scalable, and high‑performance technology solutions that support critical business functions.

  • Collaborate across technology domains to implement scalable solutions that modernize platforms and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by refining business services and platform capabilities to enhance reliability, performance, and usability.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical documentation and system specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve application, integration, and database performance issues while implementing sustainable optimization strategies.
  • Validate solution stability, scalability, and functional accuracy through rigorous testing and post‑implementation reviews.
  • Lead architecture and code reviews to adhere to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Partner effectively with operations, data, compliance, and infrastructure teams to ensure successful delivery and operational support of applications.
Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills delivering enterprise‑scale applications and solutions.
  • 5+ years of application architecture and technical leadership experience supporting large‑scale business platforms.
  • Strong expertise in Java, core (multithreading, singleton, caching) and enterprise frameworks Struts/Spring, including experience with integration frameworks and API‑centric development.
  • Proven success in developing and migrating applications across Weblogic, JBOSS, WildFly servers or cloud platforms AWS/Microsoft Azure.
  • Expertise in event‑driven architecture, IBM MQ, JMS, and Java‑based integration solutions, including administration of queue managers, channels, queues, SSL security, and enterprise messaging platforms.
  • Strong experience with RESTful and SOAP services, React, jQuery, and AngularJS.
  • Modernized legacy applications into cloud‑native, microservices‑based architectures.
  • Advanced SQL development and performance tuning across Oracle, SQL Server, and Snowflake, with experience using ORM frameworks such as Hibernate, MyBatis, and iBatis.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD practices, deployment automation, source control, and DevOps toolchains including Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab, and Artifactory.
  • Experience securing enterprise Java applications, APIs, and integrations with expertise in SSO, Active Directory, Kerberos/NTLM, Okta (Access Gateway), and modern identity frameworks including OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC, and RBAC.
  • SQL server reporting platform experience desirable such as SSRS, Power BI or any other comparable BI and reporting solution.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business‑focused recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a global, team‑oriented environment.
  • Exposure to financial services, asset management, investment platforms, or related business domains is preferred.

The salary range for this position is targeted for $185,000 to $200,000 plus discretionary bonus. Base pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
