Job summary

Amazon Leo CT SW Team is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop, and deploy software for terrestrial devices in the Kuiper project. The role spans the full SDLC and requires hands-on work across assembly, C/C++, and Rust with real-time embedded systems and Linux expertise.

You will collaborate with hardware, product and operations teams, guiding code reviews, architecture decisions, and deployment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). You will design, craft, and deploy reliable embedded software for large quantity of consumer electronic products. LEO is breaking new ground with every device we design, and you will be an integral part of bringing this family of products to customers.

A day in the life

As part of our Amazon Leo CT SW Team, you will design and implement embedded software used in the Project Kuiper products. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams inside and outside of Amazon. You will craft your software from requirements, designs, code, test, to product deployment. You need to be flexible and responsive to changing priority issues.

About the team

The Amazon Leo CT SW Team supports the devices that connect our customers to the Kuiper network. We provide software for both applications and the underlying Linux system. We work hand in hand with hardware, product and operations teams to deliver a great experience for our customers.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
