Job summary

Picarro, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own design, development, and delivery of core software components for our integrated analytical instrumentation platforms.

You will drive architecture, ownership of features, and system interfaces while mentoring peers. Responsibilities include building robust interfaces, expanding CI/CD, and delivering high-quality, maintainable code in a Linux environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related major is required.
• 6+ years of hands-on coding experience, with 4+ years in Python and a statically typed language such as C++/C#/Java/Go.
• Experience with distributed messaging platforms and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with ProtoBuf/JSON Schema and asynchronous communication patterns.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Development: design and implement high-quality components for analytical instrumentation platforms.
• Technical Ownership: scope, prioritize, and deliver features across the software lifecycle.
• System Interfaces: build robust internal/external interfaces for gRPC microservices.
• Test & Automation: extend CI/CD pipelines and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Troubleshooting: diagnose complex defects and provide root-cause analysis.
• Planning & Delivery: participate in release planning and risk assessment.
• Technical Mentorship: mentor junior engineers and uphold coding standards.
