LOCATION: Albany, NY - Hybrid

Consultant to assist the OSC Division of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Application Development Bureau

Qualifications

• Software Architect- Makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms. Designs multi-leveled architecture or component interactions of a large scale software system.
• Senior- 60 - 84 months: Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education.
• 60 Months experience as a software or application architect
• 60 Months experience in software development on various platforms, such as WebSphere, ServiceNow, PeopleSoft, Oracle Application Express, UiPath, Microsoft Power Platform.
• 60 Months experience performing software and application design and architecture as part of strategic initiatives.
• 36 Months experience with cloud providers and cloud native solutions
• 36 Months experience mentoring other architects and development managers
• 36 Months experience as a technical lead on medium to large projects, which can be defined as having one or more of the following: a project team size greater than 5 people; a duration of at least one year; a project budget of at least $250,000; and reporting to agency executive leadership.
• 12 Months experience with process automation software

Day-to-Day Tasks

• Establish and maintain application architecture standards across all platforms to ensure consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
• Define and document coding standards, development tools, and technology platforms to promote best practices and streamline development efforts.
• Conduct code and design reviews with development teams, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to architectural and coding standards.
• Develop and communicate future-state application architecture recommendations, including infrastructure requirements and strategies to maintain a secure and modern architecture.
• Create and maintain technology roadmaps that align with organizational goals and guide long-term application development strategies.
• Maintain an inventory of current application capabilities, define the desired future state, and develop plans to address capability gaps.
• Collaborate with other architects to review and coordinate architectural decisions, ensuring alignment across the organization.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment, as needed.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations and implementation plans for adoption where appropriate.
