Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs currently seeks a Senior Social Worker (GS-12) to provide advanced psychosocial care and specialized services to Veterans in the Grand Junction, Colorado area.

The role focuses on delivering comprehensive social work interventions, coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring access to VA and community resources. Telework is not available; travel within the community is expected.

Qualifications

• Citizen or eligible for appointment in accordance with VA policy.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Licensed or certified as Social Worker at the master's level (GS-0185).
• Current state licensure requirements must be met for independent practice.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between Veterans and Veterans' families and VA/community resources to ensure thorough service delivery.
• Communicate effectively with diverse populations, both orally and in writing.
• Coordinate community placements with Veterans, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely completion.
• Provide consultation and education to Veterans and their families about community resources and VA benefits.
• Assess psychosocial problems and provide short- and long-term counseling as needed.
• Conduct thorough assessments to determine presenting problems and obstacles to treatment.
