Job summary

Merced County is seeking a Social Worker III to manage a complex caseload, perform social studies, and apply advanced casework methods with independence. The role may include leadership of other workers and specialized assignments across protection, Foster Care, and Emergency Response contexts.

Incumbents handle high-difficulty cases and collaborate with agencies to connect clients with services while maintaining client confidentiality and ethical standards per NASW guidelines.

Qualifications

• Communicate effectively in writing, in person, and over the telephone.
• Note taking, report writing, English composition, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Interview techniques and information gathering from reporters or clients.

Responsibilities

• Carry a caseload of difficult social services cases with technical competence.
• Investigate reports of abuse and assess safety of clients; may testify in court.
• Develop and carry out social treatment plans; coordinate services with resources.
