Job summary

Major League Soccer’s Business Insights & Analytics team seeks a Senior Manager, Soccer Analytics & Data Science to lead major analytics workstreams and advise competition, player relations, medical, and other sporting departments.

You will apply event, tracking, roster, and financial data to evaluate performance, lead data-driven initiatives, and advance MLS’s use of AI and data governance across the sporting ecosystem, with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in quantitative analytics, data science, strategy, or a related analytical role.
• Strong understanding of soccer analytics, roster construction, and the professional soccer ecosystem.
• Experience working with event and tracking data, preferably within soccer.
• Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior analytics partner to Competition, Player Relations, Medical, and other sporting stakeholders, shaping priorities and leading data-driven recommendations.
• Lead complex analytics and data science projects from problem definition to presentation of recommendations.
• Leverage event, tracking, roster, and financial data to evaluate performance using advanced analytics and data science techniques.
• Lead evaluation of roster rules and initiatives and assess their impact on performance and player investment.
• Develop data-driven frameworks for tracking KPIs and communicate insights to MLS leadership.
