Job summary

Aspen Skiing Company is seeking an Experienced Snowboard Instructor to teach groups and individuals across all ability levels at Snowmass and the Four Mountain region. You will use diverse teaching techniques to meet guests’ wants while maintaining a safe, fun learning environment.

The role requires strong experience (2,000+ teaching hours) and Level 2 AASI certification, with opportunities for seasonal full-time or part-time employment and benefits like an employee ski pass.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 full-time seasons or 2,000 documented teaching hours
• Minimum Level 2 AASI Certification, or foreign equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Children’s Specialist certification preferred
• Must ski to a level 7

Job Description

The Experienced Snowboard Instructor will teach snowboarding to individuals or groups of all ability levels, including children. The Experienced Snowboard Instructor will utilize a variety of snowboarding and teaching techniques to meet the guests’ wants and needs while maintaining a safe and fun learning environment. This position reports to the Ski & Snowboard School Supervisor or Manager.

• Only candidate who have a minimum of 2,000 documented teaching/coaching hours over the past 10 years and a current Level 2 certification are being considered at this time.
• This role typically pays between $32.04 and $56.98 per hour. Actual pay will be dependent on experience and lessons taught.

Essential Job Functions

• Teach a variety of lessons, including group and private lessons, to guests of all ages and abilities
• Utilize a variety of snowboarding and teaching techniques to adapt lessons to the changing needs to the learner
• Provide exceptional guest service while always managing physical and emotional risk
• Work together with teams of instructors to organize and group guests according to individual goals and abilities
• Utilize Pro Card, the Ski & Snowboard School’s internal scheduling platform, to maintain an accurate work schedule
• Demonstrate expertise with poise in the interest of sharing your passion for recreation in the mountains and representing the company with the utmost professionalism
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 5 full-time seasons or 2,000 documented teaching hours required
• Minimum Level 2 AASI Certification, or foreign equivalent, required
• Children’s Specialist certification preferred
• Must be able to ski to a level 7
  
  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of current snowboard and teaching technique
• Basic knowledge of motor skill learning and child development
• Ability to demonstrate precise skiing maneuvers to students throughout the duration of a lesson
• Ability to snowboard for the duration of multiple lesson products (multiple hours daily), on varied terrain and in varying weather conditions that are typical of the mountain environment.
• Ability to assess dynamic slope conditions and make timely, safety-oriented decisions to ensure the safety and well-being of oneself, students, and others
• Ability to evaluate and adjust to changing weather, terrain, and instructional challenges by making swift, informed decisions that prioritize safety and effective outcomes
• Demonstrate self and social awareness, and develop relationships built on trust with all guests and fellow employees
• Ability to demonstrate all aspects of current level of certification to published certification standards
