Job summary

Virginia Department of Social Services in Virginia's Northern Regional Office seeks a SNAP Practice Consultant Sr. to supervise and support Local Departments of Social Services.

Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
  • Experience interpreting and applying Federal/State policies and regulations.
  • Ability to provide guidance, training, assistance and support to local departments to ensure quality/efficiency/accountability in all program operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop/ deliver policy, procedural and automated systems training to individuals with varying levels of program knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience understanding human behavior in social/economic contexts and casework principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Occasional overnight travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide programmatic supervision, consultation, and support to Local Departments of Social Services to promote efficiency and accountability in operations.
  • Offer feedback to Program Manager and Regional Director on issues with local agency operations.
  • Support delivery of services to customers in the region.
  • Promote compliance with state and federal policies across agencies.
