Job summary

LexisNexis Risk Solutions in the United States is seeking a Senior SRE to improve reliability, scalability, and resilience of database and infrastructure environments. You will partner with DBAs and SREs to deploy across VM and Chainguard-based containers, drive incident management, and lead disaster recovery planning.

You will be on-call, automate recovery, and mentor junior staff while contributing to cost optimization and platform improvements in a fast-paced, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and IaaS.
• Background in DevOps or SRE practices.
• Understanding of SRE principles to improve software processes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform).
• Ability to diagnose networking and performance issues in distributed systems.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, networking, and storage.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (PMM3, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Strong communication and collaboration within diverse teams.

About our Team:

The SRE will partner with database administration and SRE teams to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of database environments. Primary duties include supporting database provisioning and deployment across VM infrastructure and Chainguard-based container platforms, leading vulnerability remediation efforts, managing network peering integrations with other business units, and driving infrastructure modifications and improvements necessary to meet evolving business and operational needs.

About the Role:

This is a developed professional level role for an SRE. Individuals are responsible for challenging reliability and toil reduction projects. At this level, SREs have hands‑on experience across most SRE practices. They have a good understanding of how to observe distributed systems and their dependencies, and how to automate recovery to protect service levels. SREs are on‑call and assist others during incidents. They contribute to process improvements through experience and knowledge. Individuals in this role provide informal guidance to junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Support Business Services DBA team in all infrastructure builds and upgrades.
• Ensure alignment to SRE frameworks, standards, and operational best practices.
• Own prioritization of reliability engineering tasks within team backlogs.
• Lead incident management processes, including post‑mortems and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Drive disaster recovery planning and production resilience testing.
• Support infrastructure cost analysis and optimization initiatives.
• Ensure team readiness for on‑call support and incident response.
• Contribute to SRE capability building through training and coaching.

Requirements

• Experience working with cloud platforms (such as Amazon Web Services) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
• Background in DevOps, site reliability engineering practices, or related areas.
• Understanding of site reliability principles and their application in improving software development processes.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve networking, performance, and optimization issues in distributed systems.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, networking, and storage fundamentals.
• Some experience in supporting database environments such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (such as PMM3,Grafana, Prometheus, or similar) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a diverse team.

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $104,900 - $174,700. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.If performed in Illinois, the base pay range is $110,100 - $183,500.If performed in Chicago, IL, the base pay range is $115,400 - $192,200.This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
