Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and plan production for general site civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, grading and drainage, paving, utilities, and related civil activities.

You will perform quantity calculations, prepare specifications and contract documents, and act as Engineer of Record with recognized authority on complex problems. This role fits HDR's employee-owned culture and focus on innovative infrastructure.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years design experience managing civil/site design projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
• Project Engineering and Project Management experience required.
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and plan production for civil/site projects including layouts, grading, drainage, and utilities.
• Perform quantity calculations and prepare material takeoffs.
• Prepare specifications and contract documents for proposals and projects.
• Perform complex assignments requiring disciplined engineering judgment and methods.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and provide technical leadership as needed.
• Conduct early project development including site selection and due diligence.
• Plan, organize and supervise work of professionals and technicians on medium to large teams.
• Review civil scope of work, budgets, and estimates for proposals.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Senior Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:

Lead the design and plan production for general site civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities

Perform quantity calculations

Prepare specifications and contract documents

Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification or standard engineering techniques and procedures

Serve as Engineer of Record and technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity as needed

Conduct early project development activities including site selection, due diligence, and site planning

Plan and develop projects or design activities with significant impact on major company programs as needed

Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed

Prepare/Review civil engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates for proposals as needed

Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, and other civil engineering software as appropriate

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

• Project Engineering and Project Management experience
