Job summary

Spear AI seeks a senior signal processing engineer to develop, implement, and field detection, estimation, and array processing algorithms for maritime sensor products. Qualifications

• PhD in EE or related field with signal processing emphasis, or MS+5+ years post-degree experience.
• Deep knowledge of signal processing fundamentals: detection/estimation theory, spectral estimation, adaptive filtering, time-frequency analysis, and array processing.
• Strong implementation ability: write reliable code in Python and C++.
• Experience taking algorithms from concept to working system with real, messy data.
• Willingness to operate at sea and work with underwater acoustics; security clearance readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and defend detection and estimation algorithms for weak signals.
• Design and implement beamforming, spatial filtering, bearing estimation, and array processing across multi-element arrays.
• Translate algorithms from prototype to deployed real-time embedded software.
• Build models and simulations to stress algorithms before hardware exists and explain field results.
• Collaborate with data processing and ML engineers on labeling, feature extraction, and hybrid processing approaches.
• Document analyses and performance characterizations for internal teams and customers.
• Participate in bench and at-sea testing, and support field deployments.
