The Cookware Co. is seeking a Senior Shopify E-Commerce Developer to help scale and modernize our multi‑brand, multi‑market Shopify ecosystem. This is a hands‑on senior role for someone who sets a high bar for engineering quality, helps shape architectural decisions, and speeds up delivery through strong DevOps practices, automated testing, and mentorship.
Just as important, this role calls for clear, proactive communication. You’ll collaborate closely across storefront experience, theme and app integrations, and the delivery pipeline—working in lockstep with product, UX, marketing, and IT. Your ability to explain technical decisions, align stakeholders, and surface risks early will be key to delivering reliable, high‑performing commerce experiences across our international markets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Architecture & Technical Direction
- Contribute to eCommerce architecture planning (theme strategy, app strategy, integration patterns, performance strategy, and environment strategy), clearly communicating technical rationale and tradeoffs to both technical and non‑technical partners
- Lead technical discovery for larger initiatives, translating business needs into scalable technical designs and articulating decisions, risks, and assumptions along the way
- Identify and reduce technical debt through a pragmatic roadmap, openly discussing priorities, constraints, and tradeoffs with stakeholders
- Define and promote development standards—including code structure, branching strategy, review practices, documentation, and release readiness—while clearly setting expectations and ensuring shared understanding across teams
Shopify Development for Multi-Brand / Multi-Market
- Build and maintain Shopify storefront experiences across multiple brands and international markets, taking an entrepreneurial approach to scaling localized content, catalog differences, and regional promotions
- Develop and extend Shopify themes (Liquid) and modern frontend components with an owner’s mindset, balancing performance, accessibility, and long‑term maintainability
- Create reusable patterns and shared components to reduce duplication across brand storefronts, making thoughtful tradeoffs that preserve brand differentiation while improving speed and efficiency
- Drive a clean, scalable approach to market configuration—currencies, languages, shipping messaging, legal and compliance content, and regional UX differences—proactively identifying opportunities to simplify, improve, and grow the platform
DevOps, Continuous Deployment, and Reliability
- Own or co‑own Shopify themes and related web deployments, ensuring safe, repeatable releases and clearly communicating release plans, risks, and outcomes
- Improve deployment automation across dev, test, and production environments, supporting transparent, well‑documented release workflows across multiple brands
- Build strong guardrails for quality and stability—including automated checks, rollback strategies, and production monitoring—while clearly documenting processes and expectations
- Support on‑call or incident response as appropriate for a revenue‑driving storefront, communicating clearly and calmly during incidents to ensure fast alignment and resolution
Automated Testing & Quality Engineering
- Implement and maintain automated testing for storefront functionality (unit, integration, and end‑to‑end where applicable), approaching quality with a positive, solution‑oriented mindset
- Advocate for testable code patterns and introduce pragmatic improvements to test coverage over time, encouraging progress and shared ownership rather than perfection
- Partner closely with QA and automation efforts to evaluate and evolve testing tools, bringing an upbeat, collaborative attitude that helps improve release confidence and reduce regressions
