Job summary

Koch Finishing Systems in Caledonia, MI is seeking an Operations Manager to lead our shop, own project scheduling, budgets, and day-to-day execution across active fabrication projects. This hands-on leader will balance multiple projects, uphold safety and quality, and help grow the team.

You’ll oversee engineering reviews, materials procurement, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering to resolve issues while driving continuous shop improvements and Lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8-10 years of progressive experience in fabrication or manufacturing operations in a job-shop or project-based environment.
• Experience leading supervisors and cross-functional teams; experience overseeing production planning or materials procurement is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; working knowledge of metal fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Own project scheduling and execution across fabrication projects.
• Lead, coach, and manage performance of the manufacturing team.
• Oversee review of engineering drawings and ordering of steel and materials.
• Develop and manage labor and material budgets; forecast and control costs.
• Champion safety culture and OSHA compliance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to resolve fabrication issues.
• Drive continuous improvement in shop processes and layout.
• Communicate project schedules, status, risks to stakeholders.
• Manage manufacturing capacity and planning activities.
• Lead weekly shipping schedule meetings and flag delays.
• Sustain welding compliance with AWS codes.
• Champion ERP system, ensuring transactional accuracy.
• Manage inventory levels and Lean initiatives.
