Job summary

Genesis Industrial Ventures LLC is hiring a Shipfitter Journeyman to fit and tack weld fabricated steel components for Navy ship repair and related marine and commercial equipment. The role requires trade-specific tools and proficiency with weld symbols and blueprints.

The incumbent will read specifications, prepare materials, set up welding equipment, and perform precise fitting, welding, and cleanup. A strong safety focus and ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have ship repair experience at Level 1/2/3.
• Must be certified in Welding.
• Blueprint reading proficiency.
• Familiar with Mil-STD-22D.
• Must have Welder Workmanship Training (WWT).
• Ability to interpret weld symbols.
• Able to operate sawzall and grinders.
• Oxy-Acy torch cutting.

Responsibilities

• Operates fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment.
• Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Setup welding equipment.
• Fit and Tack parts together in preparation for welding.
• Remove excess slag.
• Perform precise fitting work on components.
• Decipher Blueprint and interpret weld symbols.
• Running lines and leads.
