Job summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician – Sewer Engineering to support design, drafting and permitting for public works projects. The role involves preparing documents for Capital Improvement Projects, applying survey data, and coordinating with city, state and federal agencies.

Regular 8-to-5 schedule; union position under OPEIU with step increases. Ideal candidates have an associate degree in engineering or related field, two years of technical sewer engineering

Qualifications

• Two years of increasingly technical engineering experience in sanitary sewer engineering or related discipline.
• Associate's Degree from an accredited college with major course work in engineering or related field; equivalent combinations may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation of documents supporting Public Works Capital Improvement Projects including public meeting information, plans and bid documents.
• Coordinate public works projects with applicable city, state and federal officials and other relevant agencies.
• Apply survey information to create designs and drawings for various engineering and planning projects including base mapping, and presentation layouts.
• Design/drafting for sewer rehabilitation projects and support for development review.
• Research utility requirements for new developments and review utility plans from consultants and engineers.
