Job summary

PingWind is seeking a Server Lead in Huntsville, AL to direct system administration, virtualization, server maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery for PAE Fires enterprise systems.

This hands-on technical leadership role requires advanced VMware expertise, Windows/Linux environments, OpenShift and a SECRET clearance; ensure secure, highly available platforms and validated restoration capabilities.

Qualifications

• Requires advanced systems administration with VMware ESXi, vCenter/vSphere, vSAN and virtual machines.
• Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux/RHEL; OpenShift knowledge is highly relevant.
• Experience with enterprise SAN/storage, backup, recovery and DR technologies in mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on experience with Cohesity and Dell PowerProtect Data Manager or similar backup platforms, including NFS/SMB and application-aware protection.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex server, virtualization, storage, backup, and restoration issues and document repeatable procedures.
• Understanding of high availability, redundancy, RPO/RTO, patching, hardening, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems administration and maintenance for ESXi hosts, VMs, OpenShift, VDI, Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Direct hardware installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, patching, backups, and 24/7 operations.
• Develop and sustain virtual infrastructure; contribute to SOPs and documentation.
• Oversee backup/recovery capabilities using Cohesity, Dell PowerProtect and related technologies.
• Test and validate backup, recovery, replication, and restoration; investigate failures; verify recoverability and RPO/RTO.
