Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead projects involving sediment remediation technologies for federal and public sector clients.

The role requires deep expertise in sediment transport, site assessment, cap modeling, dredge methods, and remedial design, with the ability to manage teams and communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders. Travel ~10% and PE licensure preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • PE license is required or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design approaches for riverine, coastal, riparian, and port settings.
  • Apply knowledge of sediment transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, and remedial action design/construction to projects.
  • Support statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
  • Act as CDM Smith’s task manager for complex sediment sites and communicate technical strategies to clients.
  • Serve as a liaison with clients, public, and outside consultants; explain technical work to non-experts.
  • Lead staff in preparing and reviewing technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance and technical soundness.
