Job summary

Webster & Webster Associates in the Maryland / Washington, DC area is seeking a Senior Security Researcher to lead advanced hardware and software security initiatives. You will identify firmware vulnerabilities, analyze zero-day vectors, and help build defensive countermeasures for mission-critical infrastructure in a collaborative, technically sophisticated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of vulnerability research, software or hardware reverse engineering.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for low-level development and exploit tooling.
• Expertise in ARM, MIPS, or x86 assembly.
• Experience with binary analysis tools like IDA Pro, Ghidra, or Binary Ninja.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and guide junior researchers.
• Familiarity with firmware security and hardware interfaces (I2C, UART, SPI).
• Active security clearance preferred or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Direct and mentor research teams through security analysis cycles.
• Perform deep-dive static and dynamic analysis to identify hardware and firmware flaws.
• Design proofs-of-concept and exploits to validate security gaps.
• Architect and implement security solutions to detect and thwart threats in real-time.
• Engineer frameworks to automate vulnerability discovery and auditing.
• Communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders; travel for on-site milestones as needed.
• Participate in hands-on hardware testing at specialized facilities.
