Senior Security Professional

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Senior Security Professional to join our team in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in security planning, program protection, and managing complex classified security environments. This individual must be highly organized and able to perform effectively in fast paced, high stress situations.

Base Pay Range

$78,900.00/yr - $98,600.00/yr

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted security advisor to program managers, technical leads, and government sponsors ensuring mission objectives align with national security protection requirements.
  • Provide guidance on foreign participation, export control, and disclosure issues. Coordinate with Special Security Offices (SSOs), Cognizant Security Authorities (CSAs), and Program Security Officers (PSOs) to ensure proper classification management and safeguarding of sensitive information.
  • Analyze and assess diverse security risks and associated policies.
  • Develop proactive strategies for reducing vulnerabilities and enhancing security protocols across all areas of the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Program Security Plans (PSPs), Security Concepts of Operations, and security architecture plans in compliance with DoD, IC, and sponsor‑specific security policies.
  • Create and update security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, federal regulations, and internal company guidelines.
  • Perform self‑inspections and participate in government Continuous Monitoring reviews and on‑site inspections.
  • Advise leadership on security risks and provide strategies for mitigation.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement security education, training and awareness programs.
  • Lead and conduct internal investigations on security incidents, in line with legal and sponsor requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective actions based on findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and investigations in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Security Clearance

For organizations with government contracts, maintain DoD program compliance as it pertains to responsibilities, requirements and obligations associated with holding a Facility Clearance (FCL) and ICD‑705 facility management to include but not limited to secure area oversight, personnel clearance program, and classified contract management.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in security management, physical security, counterintelligence, policy development, and compliance, or a Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience; extensive related experience in the field may be considered in lieu of the above education requirements.
  • Experience in developing and implementing security strategies and risk management programs.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of a security system of record in coordination with DISS, NISS, NBIS, JADE and other government security systems of record.
  • Proficient knowledge of the NISPOM, SAP security manuals, and IC directives and ability to interpret government policy (NISPOM, ICD, SEAD, etc.).
  • Experience with or knowledge of Foreign Ownership Control and Influence and Special Security Agreements.
  • Experience providing briefings to large audience and Executive Leadership.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Expected to produce and deliver finished documentation, e.g., reports, special studies, policy and procedures, security designs, training programs and assessments for use across a program, facility or the organization.
  • Must be self‑motivated and recognize time‑sensitive risks and act decisively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while managing complex security challenges is essential.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% per year.

  • Advanced Knowledge & Application: Ability to apply broad and in-depth professional knowledge to resolve complex security issues and develop new policies and procedures. Proficient in creative problem‑solving and offering solutions that align with organizational objectives.
  • Complexity & Judgment: Ability to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of information requires evaluation of data and risk factors. Devises solutions based on limited information and precedent and adapts existing approaches to resolve issues. Uses evaluation, judgment and interpretation to select appropriate methods and techniques for addressing multifaceted security issues. Work is done independently and is reviewed at critical points.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Proven ability to enhance relationships and network with senior partners internal and external who are not familiar with the subject matter often requiring persuasion. Adapts style to differing audiences and often advise others on difficult security matters.
  • Independent Judgment & Accountability: Accountable for the implementation of security programs and their impact on the organization’s overall security function.
Citizenship Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
