Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior Security Engineer for a remote contract role. The engineer will support the vulnerability management lifecycle, operate Tenable scanning, and coordinate remediation across teams. Strong communication and the ability to translate risk into actionable steps are required.

Experience with Windows and Linux, Brinqa or similar platforms, and familiarity with PCI/HIPAA/SOX are desirable. W2 benefits apply, with competitive hourly rates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or a related security field with a strong vulnerability management focus.
• Experience with Tenable products, preferably Tenable Security Center.
• Ability to analyze vulnerabilities and produce actionable remediation guidance.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Excellent written communication, and ability to explain complex risk to technical partners.
• Experience coordinating remediation across multiple teams; familiarity with PCI/HIPAA/SOX is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end vulnerability management lifecycle from identification to remediation guidance and tracking.
• Operate and maintain vulnerability scanning capabilities, including Tenable Security Center.
• Analyze security findings, determine risk, and communicate impact and remediation priorities to tech teams.
• Develop remediation guidance and recommend compensating controls when full remediation is not feasible.
• Coordinate with application owners and infrastructure teams to prioritize remediation activities.
• Create clear technical documentation and remediation instructions for independent execution.
• Support ingestion and management of findings within Brinqa or similar platforms.
• Work across Windows, Linux, cloud, and other environments to drive vulnerability management activities.
• Align processes with PCI, HIPAA, and SOX requirements; research emerging vulnerabilities as needed.
