Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

Are you an experienced Security Engineer looking for a new role that will allow you to deliver high quality work and independently drive projects and deliverables in support of an organization’s IT department? If so, we have an amazing opportunity for you! Iridium is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to provide security support to Iridium’s unique ground network. In this role, you’ll be responsible for implementing new security technologies, upgrading and enhancing existing technologies, implementing security policies, designing and documenting security procedures and guidelines, and assisting the security team in maintaining a strong cybersecurity posture. This role will operate with a high degree of independence and critical thinking.

What You’ll Do:

• Create roadmaps and design solutions that integrate security into key projects across the business
• Drive end-to-end architecture for highly scalable, hybrid-cloud (On-Prem & AWS) infrastructure platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals
• Champion best practices for high-availability, performance, security, and cost optimization across all architectures
• Drive to completion security solution implementations to improve prevention, detection, and response capabilities, while maintaining current knowledge of tools and best practices
• Build and maintain productive working relationships with vendors tasked with providing or augmenting Iridium IT security
• Foster teamwork by participating in design meetings, reviews, implementation projects, and coordinating with other departments
• Identify, develop, and maintain process and procedure documentation
• Suggest improvements and pursue additional training to maintain skills necessary to execute duties
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline OR equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or training
• 8+ years of direct work experience
• Experience managing and maintaining various network, security, and cloud technologies
• Experience developing or refining a secure Hybrid-Cloud architecture
• Knowledge of security technologies such as IPS/IDS, Firewalls, MFA, NAC and TLS/SSL
• Strong knowledge of cloud security services in AWS and Azure
• Proficiency integrating security-oriented technology platforms
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
• Possess a problem solver mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
• Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
• Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships across departments
• Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
• Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge

Things ThatWould beGreatif You Brought to the Table:

• Relevant industry certification – IE CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISM, CISSP, etc.
• Other Cloud Security Engineering and Design experience or certifications
• Experience in CTF competitions

We’ll also need you to:

• Be on call (approximately 10% for things such as breaches or need for escalated support)
• Work a hybrid schedule that includes at least 4 days in office
• Be able to travel up to 5%vic
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• US Citizenship required

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.

Under Iridium’s Hybrid Work Policy, employees are expected to work at least four days per week (approximately 80%) in an Iridium office to support collaboration, relationship-building, and professional growth.

Base Pay Range: $115,000 - $150,000 USD

Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role.You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus.
