Job summary

Jobtailor in Denver, CO is seeking a Lead penetration tester to drive advanced engagements across on-premises and cloud environments. You will craft attack plans, identify vulnerabilities, and provide remediation guidance to development teams.

You will build and operate agentic AI workflows to scale security testing, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with engineering to raise security maturity across complex architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of related experience, Master’s plus 4 years, or PhD plus 1 year in application-level penetration testing.
• Advanced proficiency in offensive security across web applications, mobile applications, networks, and distributed systems.
• Deep technical understanding of common vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and remediation strategies.
• Experience with public cloud platforms, specifically AWS and GCP.
• Ability to develop and maintain custom tooling using Python or Bash.
• Active contributions to the security community preferred, such as research publications, CVEs, open-source projects, or bug-bounty recognitions
• Strong proficiency in C++, JavaScript, Python, or Go preferred.
• Experience with Splunk products or similar large-scale data platforms preferred.
• Ability to build cross-functional relationships with engineering teams preferred.
• Communication, mentoring, and constructive technical feedback skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Increase testing coverage across complex system architectures.
• Make risk-based security decisions in fast-moving projects.
• Champion a proactive security culture using human judgment and autonomous agents.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to drive long-term security maturity.
• Mentor team members and provide constructive technical feedback.
