Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a security engineer to build world-class defensive controls for OT (Operational Technology) and ICS environments, embedded with production teams. You’ll work at the intersection of factory floor systems and cloud infrastructure, owning security across on-prem and cloud enclaves while migrating teams to infrastructure as code.

ABOUT THE TEAM
Anduril's Security Engineering team is looking for a security engineer to focus on building world class defensive controls to protect the infrastructure around our advanced defense technology products. This is a role with a direct focus on securing Anduril's OT (Operational Technology) and I Cs (Industrial Control Systems) environments. In this role, you will design and implement foundational security solutions playing a critical role in Anduril's rollout of cutting edge factory systems.

ABOUT THE JOB
We're building out a manufacturing security engineering function within our Security Engineering team. This role is dedicated to one of our most critical production programs - you'd be the embedded security partner for the teams building advanced defense hardware.
Here's what makes this different from most security roles:

• You'd sit at the intersection of factory floor systems and cloud infrastructure, not purely in one world or the other. The program has both on-prem manufacturing environments and a dedicated cloud enclave handling sensitive data, and you'd own security across both.
• This isn't a deploy-vendor-tools-and-write-reports seat. We need someone who builds - Terraform, Python, hands‑on infrastructure work. When you find a team that's not using infrastructure as code, you help migrate them, not just flag it.
• You'd be embedded directly with the production teams, not operating from a centralized security function. The goal is to know the people you support, understand what they're building, and be the first person they call when they're implementing something new or have a security question.
• We're scaling manufacturing fast, so you need to be comfortable making security decisions with imperfect information and moving at startup speed. Guardrails that enable teams to move quickly matter more than perfect controls that slow everything down.
• The environment includes industrial systems where traditional endpoint security tools can't be installed, so creative problem‑solving and strong architectural thinking are more important than depth with any specific vendor platform.

The role can be located at HQ in Costa Mesa CA, OR Remote; with travel to manufacturing sites, and requires eligibility to obtain for a Security Clearance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead OT risk assessments, gap analyses, and develop a multi-year OT security roadmap
• Architect and implement defensive security controls for cloud, production, and corporate environments
• Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of security tools
• Build systems to support automation, visibility, and threat detection for efforts across various information security and infrastructure teams

• Work closely with factory production teams to review designs and use-cases, ensuring our environments are secure by design

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with routing, switching, and network design principles
• Familiarity with zero trust architecture and segmentation strategies when it comes to OT networks
• Experience conducting security architecture or design reviews for OT/ICS environments
• Experience with threat modeling frameworks and applying these concepts to the OT/ICS domain (e.g. MITRE ATT&CK for IC S)
• Experience with programming in one or more general purpose languages (Python, Go, Rust, etc)
• Experience developing and implementing defensive controls in corporate and industrial production environments
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of complex projects
• Have participated in or supported incident response events
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
• Ability to travel up to 50%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with OT protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP) and ICs environments
• Experience with specific ICs/SCADA vendor platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Honeywell, etc.)
• Experience building bespoke solutions in high-growth high-complexity network environments
• Strong experience with Linux operating systems

US Salary Range

$183,000—$243,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
