Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking a Principal Security Engineer to lead security architecture across infrastructure, applications, data and cloud platforms. This role defines patterns, embeds security as code in delivery pipelines, and guides teams to build secure, compliant solutions for hybrid environments.

The candidate will mentor engineers, drive threat modeling, and collaborate with Technology and Compliance to embed security into product lifecycles and vendor selections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Set enterprise security architecture, reference patterns, and guardrails for cloud, network, platform, and application domains.
• Design scalable, secure-by-default blueprints to accelerate delivery and reduce technical debt.
• Drive security as code practices, integrating automated controls into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native workflows.
• Lead threat modeling, risk assessments, and security design reviews for complex initiatives and critical systems.
• Standardize vulnerability management across infrastructure and software layers based on risk and impact.
• Integrate identity, access, and secrets management into architectures following least privilege and zero trust.
• Guide performance monitoring, logging, and detection engineering to improve signal quality and reduce MTTD/MTTR.
• Collaborate with Technology, Compliance, and business leaders to embed security in product evaluation and deployment.
• Support governance of Azure services, subscriptions, connectivity, and administrative models.
• Mentor engineers to elevate secure coding, testing, automation, and operational excellence.
• Influence roadmap priorities using data and risk metrics for informed trade-offs.
• Advocate modern Agile practices and ensure security supports developer and customer experience.
