Job summary

AWS Engagement Security (EngSec) seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer to design and operate large-scale distributed systems powering internal security services, including AI/ML workloads. Lead the design, implementation, and operation of infrastructure and tooling that enable AWS teams to deliver for our customers while meeting security requirements.

You will mentor engineers, own service health, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 availability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable infrastructure that leverages AI to deliver faster, more resilient services to customers.
• Develop automation tools and frameworks to eliminate manual operational work
• Mentor one or more developers on the team
• Own the operational health of services, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 service availability
• Collaborate with security and ML teams to improve system architecture and operational excellence
