Job summary

Novartis Biomedical Research in San Diego is seeking a Senior Scientist I/II to join the Exploratory Chemical Biology team. You will drive discovery of LMW, peptide, and protein therapeutics using display technologies and molecular engineering, in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

You will design and execute discovery campaigns, build and analyze libraries, and characterize candidates with ELISA, flow cytometry, BLI, SPR, and related methods.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD within last 2 years in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Biology, Bioengineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience; drug discovery preferred.
• Hands-on with display technologies (phage/yeast/mRNA), screening and assay methods, and molecular biology techniques.
• Strong documentation and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet timelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute peptide and protein discovery campaigns using display platforms.
• Generate and QC combinatorial libraries; perform sequencing.
• Identify and optimize discovery candidates using various biophysical methods.
• Analyze data and communicate findings to project teams.
• Implement new technologies to improve discovery efficiency.
