Job summary

Altria Client Services in Virginia is seeking a Senior Scientist - New Product Development to advance early-stage oral nicotine concepts through lab-scale processing, prototypes, and analytical testing. You will translate concepts into feasible formats and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive feasibility, regulatory readiness, and commercialization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in chemical engineering, chemistry, polymer science, food science, pharmaceutical science, or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with analytical testing and material characterization for product development.
• Laboratory experience handling hazardous chemicals, including nicotine, with safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize lab-scale processing approaches to translate concepts into feasible product formats.
• Plan and execute rapid prototyping studies of oral nicotine concepts.
• Apply ingredient selection and materials processing to prototypes with targeted performance attributes.
• Perform analytical testing and material characterization to guide iterations.
• Establish and sustain lab-scale equipment and workflows for rapid prototyping.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate learnings into technical recommendations.
