Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Scientist for MSAT - Emerging Technologies in Spring House, PA. This hybrid role focuses on implementing new manufacturing methods and PAT sensors to enable next-generation biopharmaceuticals.

You will work with cross-functional teams to drive real-time analytics and process control. You will lead lab-scale research on PAT and data analytics, with opportunities to scale to manufacturing while collaborating with R&D and commercial partners.

Qualifications

We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Scientist, MSAT - Emerging Technologies! This hybrid position will be located in Spring House, Pennsylvania.

The Innovative Medicine Supply Chain's Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) organization supplies medicines to markets around the world. With Quality as a primary focus, we strive to provide access and affordability through innovation and collaboration with our R&D and Commercial partners to deliver life changing solutions for patients in need. As a member our Emerging Technologies team, the Senior Scientist is responsible for implementing new manufacturing methods in upstream and downstream processing, as well as Process Analytical Technology (PAT) sensors and modeling to support next-generation manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. You will support real-time measurements for product quality attributes using PAT. PAT serves as a key enabler of Advanced Process Control (APC) and Real Time Release testing (RTRt) initiatives . You will design and lead lab-scale research around novel PAT and data analytics technology on a development scale to support commercial scale implementation. Although we support all therapeutic platforms, a focus in our biotherapeutic drug substance and drug product are prioritized critical initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate new manufacturing methods and PAT sensors in a laboratory setting
• Ideate, lead, and complete projects for implementation in manufacturing
• Collaborate with various other functions within the larger MSAT and R&D teams
• Develop new strategies for next-generation manufacturing
• Work in a dynamic team-oriented, global environment and respect inclusion when interacting with colleagues and partners

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's/University or equivalent degree is required; Master's, PhD, and/or focused degree preferred in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Required:

• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience, including relevant CoOp, Internship, and Laboratory Research experience
• Training in analytics and statistics to analyze information and draw conclusions based upon their findings
• Hands-on experience with reduced scale pharmaceutical manufacturing operations and/or Spectroscopic techniques (e.g., Raman, FTIR, UV, or fluorescence)
• Familiarity with manufacturing cGMP environments
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills

Preferred:

• Knowledge of Systems Qualification, Process Validations, Process Sciences, Tech Transfers, QbD, PAT, Continuous Manufacturing, and/or Modular Manufacturing
• Proficient in programming languages such as R, MATLAB, and/or Python
• Experience leading project teams

OTHER:

• May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel
• Requires the ability, through our flexible work policy, to work on-site a minimum of three days each week, with the option for up to two remote workdays each week
