Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Scientist, Marketplace for multiple teams to tackle end-to-end product development from data, analytics, modeling and experimentation perspectives. You will prototype ML, optimization, causal inference and marketplace dynamics models to generate insights and design experiments.

In this role, you will work with delivery marketplace, maps, Uber One, and experimentation platform teams to drive data-driven decisions, logging and metrics, and measure success across product

Qualifications

• Ph.D., MS, or Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, machine learning, operations research or other quantitative fields.
• 4+ years of industry experience as an Applied/Data Scientist (or 2+ years with Ph.D.).
• Programming languages include Python, R, Java, Scala/Spark or Perl.
• Proficiency in Python or similar for large data sets and prototyping algorithms/models.
• SQL proficiency and ability to develop statistical analyses and prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Solve ambiguous business problems using data-driven approaches (ML, Optimization, Causal Inference).
• Develop and implement statistical/econometric methodologies to improve validity and power.
• Generate data-driven insights and collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize initiatives.
• Design and analyze experiments; present actionable results.
• Create logging, metrics, data visualization, and diagnostic tools to support data-driven product development.
• Define success metrics in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Own end-to-end product development from data and science perspectives.
