Job summary

NCAR invites a driven social scientist to join a dynamic team researching the dynamics of risk communication and well-being in response to weather risks. The Scientist IV will design longitudinal studies, analyze data with advanced models, and contribute to publications for sponsors and scientific audiences.

This casual appointment averages about 4 hours per week, with fluctuating workload. The role leads research components as feasible, mentors others, and advances methodological knowledge

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of longitudinal research designs.
• Comprehensive knowledge of longitudinal data analyses and multilevel modeling.
• Proficiency with statistical software (R, SPSS, Python).
• Ability to work independently within a diverse research team.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong written and oral communication across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement longitudinal research designs for hazardous weather events.
• Develop data collection and integration plans for datasets complementing the longitudinal data.
• Advance empirical and methodological knowledge in risk analysis and communication.
• Collaborate with internal and external researchers to synthesize perspectives and co-develop implications.
• Lead or contribute to scientific manuscripts, presentations, and sponsor reports.
