Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior Scientist to join the histology team.

The role focuses on histology workflows supporting drug discovery, data quantification with HALO and HALO AI, and collaboration with cross-disciplinary researchers. The successful candidate will contribute to target identification and publication-ready documentation while maintaining rigorous lab practices.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other life science field (minimum BS +5 years histology experience).
• Knowledge of histology techniques including tissue processing and sectioning, special stains, automated IHC, IF multiplex, ISH, and image analysis.
• Exemplary laboratory practices and record keeping skills.

Cardio-metabolic diseases result in the loss of about 17.9 million lives each year. The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease Area (CVM) for Biomedical Research (BR) in Cambridge, MA is committed to changing this alarming statistic by discovering transformative medicines to treat cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our histology team. Here you will advance our understanding of disease biology, contribute to target identification efforts, and work towards the discovery and optimization of new drugs. The work involves collaboration with a host of basic research scientists across multiple disciplines as well as the clinicians who bring our drugs to patients.

Job Description

Your Responsibilities:

• Histology work to support the drug discovery process, including gross sectioning, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining and digitization of slides.

• Presentation of results in lab and department meetings.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• BS/MS degree in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other life science field (minimum BS +5 years histology experience).
• Knowledge of histology techniques including tissue processing and sectioning, special stains, automated IHC, IF multiplex, ISH, and image analysis.

Compensation and Benefit Summary

The salary for this position is expected to range between $93,800 - $174,200 US Annual per year. The final position and salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
