Job summary

FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) is seeking a Science Content & Digital Media Specialist to support NOAA's Oceanic and Atmospheric Research. You will write news stories, create visuals, and edit content for digital, social, and print platforms, ensuring accuracy and brand consistency.

Embedded at a NOAA lab or program in Silver Spring, MD, you will translate complex research into engaging formats, monitor analytics, and help shape content strategy across internal and external channels.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a technical or business discipline preferred.
• Advanced degrees or certifications may qualify for shorter required experience.
• 8+ years of professional and/or academic experience.

Responsibilities

• Explain and organize complex scientific information into communication products for leadership.
• Provide expert technical writing and editing for public materials across platforms.
• Research, write, and edit audience-appropriate content for online, social, and print.
• Develop themes, schedules, and content for external websites and social media.
• Create visual graphics, videos, and other materials for NOAA platforms.
• Monitor engagement analytics and apply insights to content strategy.
• Coordinate with NOAA teams to showcase OAR mission across sites.
• Advise on content strategy and innovations to increase public engagement.
