Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District is seeking a part-time Child Nutrition Assistant Senior to support food preparation, cooking, and cashiering for school meals. You will reconcile cash drawers, assist in serving and cleanup, and help ensure compliance with federal nutrition guidelines.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, operating the cash register, training new staff, and ensuring food safety.

Qualifications

  • Must have a current Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Experience handling money is desirable.
  • Experience in food preparation is desirable.
  • Able to read and execute written recipes and cook food in large quantities.
  • Able to keep accurate records.
  • Able to operate a computerized cash register.
  • Able to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and workplace safety requirements.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Able to perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Able to communicate with parents, staff, and students on the Child Nutrition program.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and the community.
  • Maintain appropriate change funds for registers.
  • Perform cashiering and end-of-day procedures.
  • Monitor lunch/breakfast sales to ensure guidelines and federal regulations are met.
  • Ensure product quality by visual inspection to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in keeping student status in the computer system accurate.
  • Assist in training new employees and student workers on cashiering procedures and guidelines.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist with daily cleaning of all kitchen and equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
  • Precisely measure and portion ingredients according to recipes.
  • Prepare and cook various items using different methods.
  • Assist in food preparation and clean up.
  • Assist with stocking and replenishing supplies.
  • May be assigned manager duties when a manager is absent.
  • Perform all duties safely as directed.
  • Perform other job-related duties to advance district priorities.
