Job summary

Pitt County Schools in Greenville, NC is seeking a full-time Bus Mechanic to diagnose complex malfunctions, inspect school buses, and repair heavy diesel equipment. Required are CDL-B with endorsements and DPI Bus Inspection Certification within 12 months, with experience in electrical and hydraulic systems and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of troubleshooting and repair of heavy diesel vehicles.
• Technical training in heavy diesel equipment preferred.
• CDL B license with Endorsements (P,S,T) required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Identify and diagnose complex malfunctions with advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Test repaired equipment for compliance with state standards.
• Operate power tools such as head light machine and A/C recovery system.
• Repair brake systems, drivetrains, engines and transmission components.
• Inspect wiring and electrical systems, read wiring diagrams.
• Perform North Carolina vehicle inspections on school-owned vehicles.
• Provide instruction to lower level mechanics in procedures.
• Rotate on after-hours pager service.
